Hello everyone welcome to my website!
I'm writing to record my backpack and hiking experiences. I really enjoy the outdoors and try get out as much as I can. I've hiked all around the world so I hope that you enjoy hearing about some of my greatest exploits. I also try and visit as many national parks as I possibly can in addition to the state and local parks in Michigan. We are lucky to have so many great oppoortuniteis and places in Michigan to enjoy. I'll try and pass along some of the knowledge of the parks in Michigan in particular. My favorite park is Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. People agree, and voted the sleeping bear the #1 park in the nation!
Just last weekend, I visited the city of South Haven and took a hike into the Van Buren State Park. Even though it's relatively close to a nuclear power plant, it really is like nothing else the state can offer. Since it's located near the southern end of the lake, the water becomes much warmer which makes it nicer for boating and swimming activities. There are also numerous sand dunes which you can climb. Although they can be challenging to climb, the view at the top is totally worth. If you're ever in the southern end of Michigan, take a visit to South Haven and give it a try for yourself.
I also had the chance to go on a charter fishing trip while on my visit. I went about Red Baron fishing charters and we targeted Coho in the shallow end of the lake. At first, it seemed like we weren't going to catch any fish, but we finally found a nice school and it was game on. The boat was outfitted with all types of fishing electronics, fishing rods, tackle, bait, and everything else you could imagine. We ended up catching 8 coho and 2 lake trout which is considered a major success for this time of the year.
